“Not being able to draw has been the greatest cross that I have to bear, for it has been my lifetime passion…”

Tony Hart had been demystifying the art world with cereal boxes and poster paint for fifty years before several strokes forced him to retire from television in 2001. Arguably his most famous programme, Take Hart, which he presented from 1978 to 1984 with mischievous plasticine sidekick Morph, laid the foundations for successive shows like ITV’s Art Attack and CBBC’s SMart.

In 1998 he was awarded two Baftas, including a lifetime achievement award, and on Sunday 18 January sadly passed away at the age of 83.
