Eminem’s return

Eminem’s back! After 4 long years Eminem returns with a brand-spanking new album, Relapse. This long awaited album is a supposed renewal of his original lyrical gymnastics of bending parodies around his knowledge of world affairs, and the album name due to the events that have occurred in his personal life during his years away from the public eye. As many people know, two years ago, in April 2006, Eminem’s closest friend and mentor, Proof was killed in a drive-by shooting which devastated Eminem and caused him to revert back to drugs that he had depended on for so many years, particularly sleeping pills.

Proof provided Eminem with the confidence he needed to launch his rap career. He took Em to his first battle and pushed him to keep going back again, as well as providing him, along with the rest of D12 to come up with an alias, and inspiring the infamous Slim Shady LP. Which was incidentally, thought up on the toilet. Relapse puts humour back into his unique sound, something that was missing in his last album, Curtain Call. His phenomenal ability to use his voice to skim over every beat thrown his way makes each track a joy to listen to as he seemingly makes the music and the lyrics become a singular sound, a skill many in his field do not posses.

Everyone who has ever listened to his music can feel like they have had an intimate conversation with him; whether it be discovering his passionate love for music, or his life growing up. This new album will bring his words to life again, re-awakening the Real Slim Shady, the parody master.

Due for release early 2009.

Proof was shot in a nightclub, it was not a drive-by shooting
